Following the recent update of the Coronavirus Lockdown and Government Guidelines, there have been some changes to how funerals can be conducted and to our company policy of visiting our funeral homes.
Registration
Face to Face appointment's have now been resumed. You will be required to make an appointment with the registrar and attend in person to register a death.
Visiting our Premises and use of our Vehicles:
In the interest of preventing the spread of the Coronavirus, we would request that you continue to make an appointment by telephone before visiting our Chard or Ilminster Funeral Homes. In order to protect our colleagues and you, we may ask that a face covering is worn whilst in the Office Area of our premises, unless medically exempt. Hand Sanitizer will remain available.
Visiting our Chapel Of Rest: Visiting our Chapel of Rest at both our Funeral Homes is permitted, we ask that a telephone appointment is made prior to your visit. In order to protect our colleagues and you, we may ask that a face covering is worn whilst in the Office Area of our premises, unless medically exempt. However, while spending time with your loved one in our Chapel of Rest, you may remove your face Covering.
Use of our Limousine: Our Jaguar Limousine can be used for funeral services to convey up 6 members. We have a privacy screen between the driver and the passengers. Our driver may wear a face covering for each journey, the current Government guideline is that members of the public are advised to continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where they come into contact with people they do not normally meet. We are able to source alternative transport, however, the rules of the third party that we source these vehicles from may have their own rules, we will advise you at the time.
How many people can attend a funeral? There are no Government restrictions for the number of people that can attend a Funeral or Commemorative event. Face coverings are no longer required by law. However the government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.
Taunton Crematorium:
The current Government guideline is that members of the public are advised to continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where they come into contact with people they do not normally meet.
There are no limit's on how how many mourners can attend a Funeral Service or a burial however, Social Distancing is at your discretion.
Singing of Hymns is now permitted.
Service times are every half an hour, 20 minutes for the service and then time to sanitize the chapel ready for the following service
The Crematorium Office is now open to the public.
Yeovil Crematorium:
The current Government guideline is that members of the public are advised to continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where they come into contact with people they do not normally meet.
There are no limit's on how how many mourners can attend a Funeral Service and Social Distancing is at your discretion.
Singing of Hymns is now permitted.
Service times are every 40 minutes, 20 minutes for the service and then time to sanitize the chapel ready for the following service.
The Crematorium Office is now open to the public..
Wakes: There are no limitations on how many can attend a wake or commemorative event, however, social distancing is at your discretion, and depending on the size of the venue, may affect number's allowed. The venue will advise you on the wearing of face coverings.
Burial of Ashes: There are no limit's on how many people can attend a Burial service, Social Distancing is at your discretion.
Churches and Cemetery: Each Church and Cemetery will have their own guidelines, which we will advise you according to your choice at the time of need.
We will update families accordingly should guidelines change.
Please Note - Rest assured that if you are self isolating, then Barry, Claire and Jason are available 24 hours a day by telephone. Unless our guidelines change regarding funeral services taking place, we would like to reassure you that we are able to arrange funeral services by email, over the telephone, or we can set up a video link, to ensure minimal disruption is caused when arranging a loved one's funeral.
